THOSE EYES

Whenever the students started to view their grades online, we the lecturers are sucjected to emails and visits from these students hoping to help them getting better grades or at least a passing grade.

Emails are not a problem la..worse comes to worst, I just delete these emails..or I just decided to attend to them later. However, when they came over my office..haa, that is the tough part.

2 students came over today. One desperately needed a passing grade. Less than 30%?? His reason is that with CGPA less than 2.00, he could not continue his loan. Hmm..I don't understand these students sometimes..some student out there would do anything to get a study loan ( even though u have pay a hefty sum once u get out ) but still..dun waste it la kan. I said, u got less than 30%, how can I let u pass? And also, even if I give u a passing grade, ur CGPA will still be 2.00 and the problem with ur sponsor still stands. I just asked him to appeal to his sponsor and of course discuss with his parents on what to do.

Another student..a final year student..searching for jobs. Most of the jobs require CGPA of 3.00 and above. He got 2.9 something. He got B..on the fence B. Asking me whether he could get B+ in order to boost up his CGPA. Hmm..this one, I decided to do what I can..but I told him to bring over all his previous test papers and I try to see whether I can add marks here and there. I promise I try my best but I said to him that I won't give just like that.

These students came to me with eyes that were begging for mercy. I couldn't bear looking at them especially for the first case. Kesian sangat..but..tell me what can I do..?
